Educator
I create transformative learning journeys for children, young adults and educators using experiential methodologies, including theater, nature and interdisciplinary projects.
For the last 13 years I have worked across formal and informal learning spaces. This page is an attempt to make a living portfolio of my educational work and offerings.
Philosophy behind my educational work
My programs, workshops and interventions are just an anchor. My strong intention is to create a space of dialogue and co-creation.
A space which acts as an incubation center for everyone, where we learn, experiment, challenge ourselves, and thereby break barriers and grow in our lives.
Selected work
Eight projects, from age 3 to 18. Pick a photo to read its story.
Nature Detective
Young children learn through listening to stories, singing songs, exploring nature, watching puppet shows, making leaf art and meeting trees.
Hoshangabad Sarita Mahotsav
For Eklavya Foundation’s 50th year we organised a 3 day festival on the science, sociology, art and culture of the Narmada. Eklavya team members and collaborators ran stalls on sand mining, river maps, river and science, music and the river, and more. Children and teachers from primary schools across Hoshangabad district visited.
Ecobuddy Club
Children come with their own interests and explore their relationship with nature through music, theater, river walks, books, films, cleaning streets, sowing seeds, watering plants, making posters and more. They took up projects like recycling paper, making eco bricks and creating the Ecobuddy magazine.
How about seeing BLR
What does Bengaluru mean to us? What faces of the city have we not seen? A group of teenagers and a few adults began with the city’s history, from pete to cantonment to today, then chose neighbourhoods to visit. Each visit had a planning meeting before and a reflection after. We travelled by public transport, interviewed people and tasted local food.
Time Exhibition
It began with a conversation between Mihir and Impana (13): why are we so busy, and why do we have no time for what matters to us and to the environment? That grew into an inquiry on the history, science and sociology of time, carbon dating, deep ecological time, calendars, finding local noon, art and more. The group studied scientists, research papers and artists, and shared the work as an exhibition of 10 installations for parents, children and other visitors. Local Khoji
Children took up questions about their own place and community. How many birds can a common citizen of Vadodara identify? Why isn’t waste segregated, and why are there mountains of it in the city? Why are young people addicted to social media?
Food Camp
A 3-day residential camp where children explored the science, sociology, art and culture around one central theme, food. A trans-disciplinary approach.
Voice of Vishwamitri
Teenagers did a three month geo inquiry on the Vishwamitri river in Vadodara, Gujarat, and presented it at the Climate Festival, Bengaluru. They met activists, scientists and communities living along the river, walked its banks, and tried to understand the system of river, pollution, development, human desire and ecology. My offerings
For schools, NGOs, learning centers and homeschooling groups.
