Week 37/2026
7th to 13th Sep 2026
This week, I didn’t feel like working. This week went into contemplation on ‘scale.’ At office, I need to manage a team of five — lots of groups, lots of messages, and coordination. ‘Manage’ is a violent word for me. But ultimately, when you are working at scale, you need to help team members regulate themselves in the interest of the org’s agenda. How do I make it more informal? How do I ensure more agency?
I am rethinking my role and the overall nature of my work — where should I give my energy, and how will that impact my lifestyle, specifically money.
⁂
Creative practice:
-
Why am I writing stories, poems, puppet shows? It is just a creative urge to do. After writing something, I see if it aligns with my educational work / philosophy. But first it comes as is. Before becoming / calling myself an educator, I was writing — creating poems since grade 6–7th. So I am a creative practitioner first, rather than an educator.
-
My day is filled with lots of calls, coordination, and stress. How can I write / create with this headspace? Most creators were poor — were they in stress? Did they do multiple things for a living, alongside creating their art? I want to / need to write new stuff for the new edition of Patrango (magazine), but I am not getting the headspace to do that. I need to learn to delegate / efficiently do my managerial work so I get some time to ‘create.’ I also need to find time to experience new things which will become inspiration for creation.
⁂
We are finding a cook for our home. Nidhi and I are both having difficulty making lunch early in the morning, so we are looking for a cook. It is a strange feeling — slow living and all is just theory. We are technically not getting the time and energy to make our own food; we need to earn more to outsource it. This is nothing new, but it hits me. We need ‘community’ ‘group of people’ to radically rasist it.

Highlight of the week:
-
As part of the Rewilding Storytellers Fellowship, I attended an online session with musician-singer Vedant Bhardwaj. It was wonderful to learn about his process of preparing for a performance.
-
I reached out to H saying I want to reflect on my 13 years of journey as a self-taught educator. I want to take it up as a capstone project where I reflect, analyze, find patterns from my life and practice, and ultimately find my own framework / philosophy of life and education for all my creative practices.
Inquiries:
- Why am I working with children / in education? I could have done anything after dropping out of school after 10th grade. Why did I choose to work with children? Why am I still continuing?
- My own experience of education / schooling — how do I see learning in my day-to-day life?
- I started with a fascination toward different pedagogies (theater, PBL, maker space, etc.). Slowly, my exposure to educational philosophies changed how I see everything. I still have preferences about pedagogies, but now it is philosophy-driven. Sometimes I become pedagogy-agnostic — whatever is there, that will be my pedagogy. I have a clear idea of what I want to facilitate through my philosophical foundation.
- What is my philosophy of education?
- Transformational learning happens through ‘meeting’ with each other, plus adventures and challenges. My day-to-day work is to find spaces in the giant education system to have dialogue, conversation, and authentic meetings.
I want to take this on as a serious project. I will keep bugging H about it. Writing will be the primary medium for now.
- I watched a sweet film called ‘Tum Milo Toh Sahi’ (2010).
